NAXALISM

Naxalism is the greatest impediment to the internal security of our country. The issue undermines the Sovereignty of India. The massive rise of issue is not overnight phenomenon, but mushrooming since 1970’s. The movement was initially started by Kanu Sanyal. The basic philosophy for the start of movement was to change the social order of the society and spread the message of social equality among the discontented land labourers and other oppressed section of the society. According to the naxals, achieving such objective by peaceful means is useless and resorting to rebel some nature is part of their policy. Mere exchange of bullets shall lead nowhere. The naxals too have caused lot of discontentment among the tribes. The new recruits of naxals have exploited the tribes, not adhering to discipline taking power contained in barrel seriously. They have departed from tough regulations of their cadre due to expansion amid an unexpected sweep of Influence. The power in them has corrupted themselves.

Naxalism has infested the heart of India, posing major threat to the internal security of India. It has infested many states Jharkhand, West Bengal, Orissa Chattisgarh, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. Naxalism is not only a security issue but complex social-economic issue.

Naxalism is to a large extent a product of collective failure to assure to different segments of society their basic entitlements under the Constitution of India and other legislation. The naxals have capitalised on the discontentment of the tribal people and established a strong base among these people. Infact, some parts of Jharkhand viz.Kolhen are still not part of India legally because necessary changes in Independence Act are yet to be incorporated.

The naxals presence is influential in the mineral resources rich areas of Jharkand,Orissa,Bihar & Chattisgarah. For Infrastructure hungry nation like India, majority of the Iron-ore is concentrated in the naxal infested area. The mineral rich resource is totally surrounded by the naxalites. Thereby, blocking major source of development. It is interesting to know as to how the naxals established such a strong presence thereby undermining very Sovereignty of India. How could the Government not sense the growth of such massive power in the form of parallel Government?

How did the Govt let those areas slip out of its hands?

As stated earlier, the naxals capitalised on the discontentment of the tribal and oppressed. Despite the rich mineral resources in the areas the local people were never given their due share in the development. Rather they were robed of all the resources. Big Industrial houses like Tata, Jindal and Vedanta have major presence in mining. About 30,000 litres of water is sprinkled for mining when the local tribal have no basic drinking facilities. The land belonging to tribal is acquired forcefully without following the due procedure of law. The compensation offered is meagre and often given away to landlords who impersonate to be victim. About 39% of people residing in Chasttisgarh live below poverty line. The Government has not provided them with basic facilities such as drinking water, medical assistance, roads, schools etc. There is absolute void of governance and the void has been encashed upon by the naxal movement. The naxals have established own model of village governance that could have been done by the Government. The naxals form development committees to undertake development projects. The naxals dictate 30% of the seats in the state of Jharkhand. Infact the local tribes believe that the naxal movement has given confidence to the oppressed to assert their equality and demand dignity in the main stream society. The failure of Governance and not attaining welfare of people is the primary reason for growth of naxal movement. The Police which are trained to maintain basic law and order is trained to maintain basic law & order is suddenly gripped with countering such insurgency operations contrary to its objective. About 90% of funds allotted for police modernisation lie unutilised. However, gradually the situation is improving and the age limit of Sun-Inspectors is reduced by 11 years from 35 to 24 thereby improving the intake in police staff. The Government must make its presence felt in these areas by undertaking development projects viz.Construction of roads, Irrigation facilities, schools and basic health facilities. The major development required is construction of roads, because naxals fear roads as it hampers them from planting land mines and it shall improve accessibility to the area.

The Maoists have risen three fold, they have spread their operations in urban areas such as Delhi, Mumbai. However, the security agencies have detained them & kept a check on them. The Government needs to reach out to the tribes and other oppressed people, give their due share in development of the region.

The Government must undertake massive development revolution in the region with local participation and fill the vacuum of governance. The issue should not be allowed for excuse of misgovernance. It is complex problem and requires systematised and gradual solution.

Maharshtra Election Analysis

Finally, the results of Maharashtra are out & the Congress-NCP is all set to form the Government for the 3rd time in a row! The feature of Anti-incumbency seems to have been done away, very strange. A weak opposition camp seems to be very much evident. The analysts keep posing the question of MNS being the spoiler for Congress’s advantage. But the analysts don’t seem to go beyond the face value. A balanced analysis seems to be absent.

The default victory of Cong-NCP combine constitutes many factors.

As reported by media that MNS has fared well in Mumbai & Thane, doesn’t seem true. In Mumbai city & suburbs it has bagged only 4seats out of total 36 seats. In Thane city where it was claimed that MNS would dominate, could not win a single seat. In fact, the margin of victory of Shiv Sena was far more for MNS to play spoiler in 2seats of total 3 in Thane city. The magic of MNS could only work in Kalyan suburb & Nasik city adding a total of 5 seats. That’s all where MNS could get the clear mandate of people (Overall win of 13seats).Otherwise it has played a spoiler by capturing a portion of votes by denting the traditional vote bank of Marathi manoos, making Sena loose several seats.

Now, looking at Shiv Sena, it has hit all time low. There are several factors which have led to its defeat beyond the spoiler role played MNS. The entire selection process of Shiv Sena candidates was very much poor & based on no application of mind. So despite the seat being a traditional Sena stronghold, the poor selection of candidates made things difficult all the more.

Two examples can be cited to vindicate the point-1) Selection of candidate in Mahim & Aurangabad. Both the seats a traditional sena stronghold was won by MNS in Mahim & rebel in Aurangabad. Mahim & Aurangabad have been represented by Sena for over 3terms. The strong contenders for the seat were denied the ticket & some non deserving, actors were picked up.

Moreover,Shiv Sena lacked a charismatic leader which would match the stature of Bal Thackeray to take on Raj Thackeray. Shiv Sena & MNS are cult status parties & the Shiv Sena was without its GODFATHER. May be MNS would be the same without Raj Thackeray in very very long term. Its former leader of opposition in assembly was totally incapable & could not win. It was BJP which lead the main role.

Raj Thackeray is replica of Bal Thackeray 40 years back when Shiv Sena was born & we see where Shiv Sena stands now, so will MNS also be where Shiv Sena is now? This question is valid. The Shiv Sena could come to power only by encashing on Hindu emotions post Mumbai riots-something like a lottery. Similarly MNS can come to power by fluke, but in this era the communal or regional politics may not constitute enough recipe for MNS to capture power as it did for Shiv Sena in mid 1990’s. It will be interesting to see the growth & fall (if any) of MNS.

The surprise element of this election was seeing NCP fighting back and bagging very good number of seats than expected. Many in media had virtually written off NCP & started speculating end of Pawar’s power play. But all the estimation turned to be wrong & Sharad Pawar is all set to hold the power & run his writ.

BJP has performed fairly in comparison to Shiv Sena keeping in view the number of seats it was allotted in the allaince. It improved its tally in Vidarbha. Now BJP needs to reconsider its tie with Shiv Sena due to constant denial of identifying MNS as important factor.

Though elections have ended, its not easy way for Congress-NCP government as it has to face an aggressive MNS. The most vocal opposition camp would be MNS. This is also big trouble for saffron parties to prove themselves as worth opposition.

Perhaps lot to be seen in Maharashtra politics ahead !!!

Twitter & Shashi Tharoor

All are aware of Mr.Shashi Tharoor Twitter addiction, both inseparable.

But his tweeting landed him into trouble over a journalist questioning him about his travel plans to Kerala in Economy class (referred as Cattle Class).

Tharoor in reply to the journo said, ‘Yes in the cattle class with holy cows'.

Apparently this tweet did not go well in the public domain with wide criticism from many quarters including Congress. Some came forward demanding his resignation!!!

Well, the new age Twitter cannot stand against the mighty rigid attitude of India's oldest Political party!! Infact, the poster boy of Congress Tharoor was anticipated to bring in change within the Congress & Government functioning to match up with the globalization.

Is the Congress overreacting over the trivial issue on mere humour statement?

Or is it nervous and trying to maintain its AAM ADMI Austere image?

Is the issue completely misunderstood and taken out of context?

Is Congress finding it too difficult to adjust to the modern Internet age?

Seems media is publicizing too much on needless issue and make a mountain of mole. Is some section of media trying to lobby ouster of Tharoor by speculation?

However, let me mention that twitter is good medium where a Central minister is easily accessible to the people directly, cutting down all the red tapesim.

Is any other minister in UPA cabinet so easily accessible? Why do media not debate on this issue? Is it that Tharoor overdoing on twitter? May be he must restrict his tweeting habits especially as he occupies an important office in the Government.

Especially, his OSD Jacob has manifested act of immaturity by venting his anger openly through Twitter, not suiting his position of being OSD to the junior EAM.

He must remember that his personal comments on public forum like twitter have impact in the political arena. Seems he is not mature to handle the post of OSD to the Junior EAM keeping in mind his tweets. Adding a further perspective, does the Official Secret Act restrict him twittering? Well, voices within Congress and media rising for ouster of Tharoor-Seems he is on his way out very soon.

If he resigns then Twitter must rehabilitate Mr.Tharoor, after all he is twitter loyalist!!!

YSR-Lion of Cuddapah & Post-Death Fiasco.

The untimely death of Y S Rajsekhara Reddy caused huge emotional outburst in Andhra Pradesh.

People committed suicide and some of them died of Heart attack!!!!

Now this is what I call typical Andhra style of grief!!!

‘Andhra is typical example of extreme reactions, sycophancy’- says my mummy who was born n bought up in Kurnool District, AP-(The same district where YSR died)...

Apparently, the REDDY community in Andhra is known for its extreme behaviour.

If a Reddy is close friend of yours he will not mind losing his life, but at the same time he will not hesitate to take other’s life if any conflict persists.

YSR was Lion of Cuddapah (Rayalseema Region), who had crushed all his detractors mercilessly; perhaps fate had stored this brutal death for him to commensurate in same spirit.

It was alleged by Chandrababu Naidu that YSR had generated wealth over 10,000 CRORES!!!!

However, the allegations could not be substantiated.....

The moment from which YSR’s chopper fiasco began there was total Chaos.

No one could confirm the factual position, leaving it on the media to speculate.

The media in its usual style speculated, sensationalised the incident at its best.

In the next 3days YSR was made a big hero and saviour of Andhra!!!

His stature was compared to that of Gandhi etc...

Is Indian media immature-May be I can write a separate blog on it.

The search operations conducted was unprecedented in recent time!!

How much money was spent from taxpayers kitty-WHO KNOWS???

I would request YSRs son to compensate from his massive WORTH.

Several such instances of chopper crash have occurred in the past, wherein the debris and decomposed bodies were found even after three months of the incident.

But Lion of Cuddapah was lucky, that his MUKHYA MANTRI position loomed around him even after his death!!! His body was recovered in 17 hours after massive search....

The irony of the situation is that before YSR was buried squabbling for his successor caused huge ruckus. Majority of Legislators pitched their support for YSR’s son Jagan Mohan, controversial Industrialist. The nasty didn’t allow the grief to subside and took advantage of emotionally charged situation!!!! It was manifestation of cheapness and dirty politics.

Will Congress set another example of Dynastic politics by appointing YSRs son as the CM???

Well,in that case Congress will be pucca Family run party!!!!!

Andhra Congrees unit may be on it's way to split-Who knows??

Will Jagan be made the CM of Andhra-That't the million dollar question in Hyderabad....

I Pity for the soul of YSR-May his soul rest in peace.

VIP TRAVEL.....

Recently during my trip to Udaipur,I witnessed 2 instances regarding VIP travel.

The scene was amazing, esply after the frisking controversery of Dr.A P J Abdul Kalam.

1st Instance-At the Mumbai airport enterance gate,I happened to see a Central Minister.

The minister got out of his car and made in swiftly into the gate seperately assigned for VIP's!!!

The Security guards were running around for his swift movement thru' the airport, virtually every security man was dancing around like cat!!

What annoyed me more that a seperate entrance gate was assigned despite the only operational gate being insufficient to cater the needs of the AAM ADMI !!!

I had no option but only to stand and wait in the Q for my turn to come and take the entrance-How disgusting ????Whereas minister made his way smoothly with his dancing cordon around him.

That very moment,I felt to protest by yelling at the minister and express the voice of AAM AADMI,however I had no intention to spoil my trip !!!

2nd Instance-On my onward journey from Udaipur after completing the Security check,I came across a board mentioning the list of exempt persons for security checks.

I took a lot of interest to read the beautiful board which seemed quite expensive. The last two categories of exempt persons read as 1) SPG Protectees 2) Shri Robert Vadera when travelling with SPG.(Robert Vadera is the son in law of Mrs.Sonia Gandhi)

The moment I read the last category I got wild and angry.

When the 2nd last name explicitly mentions that SPG protectees are exempt from security checks, why the hell name of Robert Vadera be mentioned seperately????

Is he some great saviour of nation that his name be mentioned so prominently when the list is very clear with various criteria !!!!

I throughlly agree at the security provided to this gentleman owing to threat perception, but the exclusive mention of his name on such a list is sheer nonsense and hype.....

I request all the readers to check such boards at the airport after security checks and also comment on the blog written...

Despite being included in the list by default in category of SPG protectees....

Does he really need the treatment of being mentioned exclusively on the list ?

Any one from Home Ministry or Civil Aviation Ministry reading this blog?

Readers please comment.....

Aam Aadmi ka bhala karo......................

Cheers

BEGGARS OF BLACK CATS.....................

Very recently a controversery was created over the proposal of withdrawing the Elite NSG Guard cover (popularly known as Black Cats) of famous hindi heartland politicians like Mayawati,Mulayam Singh Yadav,Laloo Prasad Yadav.

The proceedings of Parliament were distrupted over the issue causing the house to detract from the main stream work.

Indeed,it's disgusting on the part of these useless politicians to BEG for BLACK CATS dancing around them all the time!! In order to fulfill their fantasy of STATUS SYMBOL,they took the entire house for ransom. The elite force is created to deal with extraordinary situation, however it is being diverted to guard these pity politicians.

The Ministry of Home affairs (MHA) had only proposed to withdraw the Security of Black Cats and substitute them with other Paramilitary forces. It didnt mean to cut down the security to ZERO,a reasonable cover was being protected. However, that did'nt go well with the HINDI HEARTLAND POLITICOS,therby creating BIG UPROAR in the house.
The politicians and their fellow party MP's created ruckus in the house....

It's high time that the MHA must bring in Bill to provide VIP security on payment basis as done in CISF.A list of privelleged VIP's i.e President,PM must only be provided with the Black cats. The criteria for security must be enhanced viz.threat perception etc.The criteria must be complied strictly.

The elite forces are to protect the citizens and not these creatures.

Anyone in MHA hearing???Or do I have to become Minister for MHA to bring in revolution???
